U.S. Army
Europe names top Soldier, noncommissioned officer for 2010
HEIDELBERG, Germany -- Cpl. Eric Sincore from the
170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and Staff Sgt. Alicia
Anderson from Joint Multinational Training Command were
named the 2010 U.S. Army Europe Best Warrior Soldier of the
Year and Best Warrior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year
respectively in a ceremony here, Aug. 12.
Sincore, a 24-year-old combat engineer, and Anderson, a
24-year-old intelligence specialist, earned their titles
after competing with 12 other Soldiers and NCOs at the
USAREUR competition last month at the Grafenwoehr (Germany)
Training Area. The competition challenged their military
knowledge, warrior skills, and endurance over four days of
nearly non-stop action.
The two winners will represent USAREUR at the Department of
the Army Best Warrior Competition, where they will compete
with NCOs and Soldiers from 12 Army commands from around the
globe, Oct. 17-22 at Fort Lee, Va.
Anderson from Queens, N.Y., and Sincore, from Niceville,
Fla., will face tough competition as they strive to uphold
USAREUR’s “Best Warrior” winning reputation.
“Last year’s NCO of the Year for Department of the Army was
a USAREUR Soldier and we will have two more USAREUR winners
this year,” said Sgt. Maj. Brad Weber, who has been
overseeing USAREUR Best Warrior competitions for the last
five years. Weber, from USAREUR G1, the command’s
theater-level human resources provider, also said that
USAREUR has won at the Army level three times in the last
five years. “That type of success speaks directly to the
quality of our competition and how well it prepares our
winners for the next level,” he said.
